Next Steps: Happy are the SadPosted: October 2, 2012
Identify uncontrollable feeling/thought/action. What persistent, destructive feelings are you plagued by that are beyond your control? What persistent, destructive thoughts are you plagued by that are beyond your control? What persistent, destructive behaviors are you plagued by that are beyond your control? Recognize it. Indentify it. Name it. Simply naming something gives you power over it.
In Christ’s name bury it/toss it/cast it out using the black stones. Words have power. Actions have power. Words and actions together have a lot of power. So in Christ’s name get rid of that hurt, hang-up, habit using these stones. You can bury them. You can toss them. You can cast them into the lake/ocean. But get rid of them physically and spiritually.
Help others. Point out to others what they need to put behind. Be humble. Be gentle. But do not be silent. We need others to point out those things to which we are blind.
Commemorate with an acorn. After you’ve had some burials, commemorate the event by fastening a brown paper acorn to our tree in the church lobby. We’re in this together. Let’s encourage one another by visually depicting the life-changing decisions we are making.
