Sermon Recap: “He Appeared to Me… in My Grief.”

John 20:1-2, 11-18

Mary was devoted to Jesus.  Wherever he went she followed—even to the cross, even to his tomb.  Mary was grief-stricken.  Her friend and teacher, her faith community, her hope for Israel and world died with Jesus.  But Mary is pulled out of her grief with one word from her resurrected Lord.  Jesus calls Mary by name.  Things will never be the same for Mary.  But they will be good again.  Jesus appeared to Mary in her grief brought her out by calling her by name.
