Questions for Contemplation – Courage: Leaving a Legacy (How To)

Leaving a Legacy, Step #1:  Think Generationally

  • What are some destructive generational cycles you have seen in your family (parents, grandparents, great-grandparents)?  How have you “paid” for them?
  • What are some constructive generational cycles you have seen in your family (parents, grandparents, great-grandparents)?  How have you been “blessed” by them?

Leaving a Legacy, Step #2:  Choose Courageously

  • Can you think of a time when you chose the “easy” way out of a difficult situation?  You told God “I can’t and I quit.”  You complained about God, His people, your circumstances, everything?  How did that work out for you in the long run?
  • Can you think of a time when you chose the “hard” way out of a difficult situation?  A time when you embraced relying on God and relying on God’s people.  How did that work out for you in the long run?

Leaving a Legacy, Step #3:  Choose Today

  • Think Differently:  What are you choosing today to see as “desirable” difficulty in your life?
  • Pray Differently:  Did you pray prayers to break generational cycles this week?  Notice anything different?
  • For Families
    • As a couple what new legacies are you trying to establish today in your marriage?
    • As parents what new legacies are you trying to establish today in your children
