Applications — Presenting Jesus: A New, Old Story

Luke 2:21-24

Luke presents his gospel as a new, old story.

It’s new because Jesus’ arrival marks the turning point in human history: through this obedient Israelite all the nations of the earth will be blessed.

It’s old because this is what God had promised Abraham so long ago.  Luke emphasizes continuity.  God makes and keeps his promises.  And we remember what he has already done, to increase our faith for what he will do.

And so a great application from this text is to for us to do the same.

Share your story of what promises God has already fulfilled for you.

Share your story of what promises you are still waiting on from God.

You can share these stories around your dinner table.  You can share these stories in your Prayer Journal.  But take the time this week to share these stories.
